Habana Republicana
XX Century Havana
In our tour of Habana Republicana enjoy a relaxing afternoon walking tour via the Paseo del Prado up to the Parque Central, the former Centro Gallego and National Capitolio. The mystic corner of PRADO and NEPTUNE seemed always fated to have its charm. This place was the heart of Havana of the 1930’s till the 60’s, where musicians and their orchestras, well-known like the Aragon and Enrique Jorrín among others, appropriated the Paseo del Prado and the roof top of all the nearby hotels facing the Parque Central, The Anacaonas, an all-girl orchestra, performing nightly in the AIRES LIBRES, the open-air cafes, soon found an enthusiastic audience, across the National Capitol Building.
The Parque Central today is anchored by the new majestic 5 star hotel Gran Manzana Hotel - a Kempinski property, the classic and modern 5 star Parque Central Hotel - a Iberostar Property and the classic oldest city hotel in Havana, The Inglaterra Hotel - a Starwood | Sheraton property.
The newly restored former Palacio Centro Gallego | Teatro Nacional de Cuba - today remind us of the great splendor the city once had and is today again given birth to. In the evening these buildings of great historical and architectural importance from the early XX century Republican period are now bathed in majestic modern lights, allowing them to once again become alive.
